The Roots of The Baobab Tree: Our Foundation Story

In the heart of the Democratic Republic of Congo, amidst its vibrant cultures and complex challenges, the seeds of The Baobab Tree charity were sown by a young and determined lady, Magalie Dihumba. Born in Congo and having immigrated first to France and then to the UK, Magalie's journey was both enriching and enlightening.

She pursued her passion for education, earning a master's degree in Education from Nottingham University, and embarked on a teaching career that took her across continents, from the bustling cities of Asia to the diverse landscapes of Africa.

It was upon her return to Africa, while teaching at a primary school in Kinshasa, that Magalie encountered the stark realities of educational disparities. She saw children with boundless potential but limited resources, schools craving for support, and communities yearning for change. These experiences ignited a fierce determination in Magalie to make a difference. Driven by the belief that education is the cornerstone of development and empowerment, she founded The Baobab Tree charity.

The Baobab Tree charity is more than an organization; it's a movement towards creating equitable educational opportunities for the children of the Democratic Republic of Congo. Named after the resilient Baobab tree, a symbol of life and positivity in African folklore, our charity stands for strength, growth, and community.
